Ways to Look Your Best on Your D-day

 Every bride wants to look perfect on her wedding day, after all this is one of the most important days of her life. But the big question is HOW? Here's a checklist to follow a month before your wedding to dazzle on your big day...
1. Wedding Attire
It's best to purchase your wedding outfit just a month in advance. If you buy it six months in advance and then go on a diet, you'll end up floating in your outfit on your wedding day. If it's summer time, avoid heavy fabrics and instead opt for saree/lehenga in chiffon, georgette or crepe or you'll end up in a pool of sweat. During winter, velvet can be your best bet. The colours you choose for a wedding makes a big difference. For a day ceremony you could go for pastel shades like beige, lavender, etc, where as for the reception you can choose to wear a lehenga that's bright and shiny with heavy embroidery.
2. Jewellery
The right kind of wedding jewellery gives a glittering glow to the over-all attire of the Indian bride. Your jewellery doesn't need to be expensive to look good, but you need to make sure that it coordinates well with your outfit and complexion. For instance, bulky extravagant gold jewellery with dusky complexion is a bad combination. You could try getting heavy custume jewellery on rent that matches perfectly with your outfit. If you're getting married during summer or monsoon, it's best to go for lighter gemstone and diamond jewellery that has a sleek and elegant look, as they're easy to wear and maintain. Lastly, if your outfit is too heavy, opt for some delicate piece of jewellery or it will ruin the entire look.
3. Make-up
If you really want to glow on this day, you need to take good care of your skin. So, avoid oily food and drink plenty of water to keep your skin hyderated. Secondly, book an appointment with a professional make-up artist at least a month or two in advance and ask for a trial session a week before your wedding, wearing your outfit. And, 'less is best' should be your funda if you want to look natural. Rather than layering up loads of foundations and creams, tell your make-up person that you want to highlight the best of your features. Stick to neutral shades for the day and a little heavy make-up for the evening.
4. Hairdo
It's important that your hairstyle suits you and your wedding outfit, so discuss with your stylist what kind of hairstyles will best suit you. Also, go for a trail session along with your outfit and make-up a week before your wedding, so that you get an idea of what you will look like on the final day. And avoid any drastic makeovers right before your wedding. Experiment if you want, but not on your wedding day or you'll be in trouble at the last minute. |
