Knotty, Not Nice!
|
- As a creator how do you merge technique and art?
For me technique becomes art. If you explore a technique well and with passion, it automatically becomes a form of art.
- The colours you used are dusty roses, browns... when you select your palette are you looking at an NRI European clientele or the Indian market? Is there a difference from a design perspective when preparing a collection for India as opposed to abroad?
I select colours on instinct. I do think of seasons but I never follow trends or even know what a trend has to say. I think colour choices are too subjective to put in trends. Yes the cultures of two parts of world are totally diverse. One needs to understand the life style to offer choices in terms of fabrics and styles or attitude.
- It seems there is always some part of the body in fashion whether its cleavage, the back, bare shoulders that is in focus. What in your opinion is the trend this year?
ha-ha. I don't know if there is a particular trend but yes... back is always going to be in the front of fashion.
- Do you feel short women will be able to wear the A line flounce and pleated look that was prevalent on the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week?
Yes. At times certain styles might not work for short people but I think its more about confidence than looks. At the same time pleats and A-line structure can be used smartly to avoid such issues.
